Located at 2116-D New Bern Ave in Raleigh, NC, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Raleigh is far from your average movie theater—it's a vibrant blend of cinema, dining, and nightlife that creates an unforgettable entertainment experience. More than just a place to catch the latest film, Alamo Drafthouse combines the magic of the big screen with the comfort of a full-service bar and restaurant, making it a destination where every visit feels special.
Step inside, and you'll immediately notice the nostalgic atmosphere that sets this theater apart. As one visitor, Don D, enthusiastically shared, the décor is steeped in classic cinema charm with vintage VHS cassettes and retro movie posters adorning the walls. Even the restrooms carry that distinctive throwback vibe, adding an authentic touch that evokes fond memories and creates an inviting ambiance.
But the true star at Alamo Drafthouse is the multi-faceted experience that extends beyond just watching movies. The theater boasts plush reclining seats designed for total comfort, ideal for settling in with a bucket of their famously flavorful snacks. Patrons rave about the food menu, which elevates typical movie theater fare to a whole new level. From the spicy ranch popcorn and lemon pepper fingers—celebrated by Don D as “one of a kind”—to the crispy, flavor-packed fried pickle spears and perfectly spiced fried cauliflower recommended by Lost Memories, the dishes are thoughtfully crafted with bold flavors and generous portions. The food arrives hot, fresh, and satisfying, pairing exquisitely with the extensive drink selection.
The bar menu is also noteworthy, offering a variety of beers, cocktails, and unique concoctions such as the popular “Skinny Jeans” cocktail that LaQuenta Yates recommends. Whether you’re in the mood for a hoppy craft beer or a carefully curated cocktail, there's something to elevate your movie night perfectly.
What makes Alamo Drafthouse truly stand out is the way it transforms ordinary movie outings into special events. Adam Wallace’s experience at a Halloween-themed screening of Frankenstein captures the spirit perfectly—this is a place that goes beyond showing films, creating immersive themed events and cultivating a lively, communal atmosphere that stays with you long after the credits roll.
The combination of excellent customer service, modern and spotless facilities, and a convenient location complete with ample parking makes Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Raleigh a reliable and welcoming choice for locals and visitors alike. While small technical hiccups can occasionally appear, as noted by Alan Michael Woods, the attentive staff strive to provide a seamless experience, ensuring your evening is as enjoyable as possible.
Whether you’re looking to relive classic horror flicks, enjoy a gourmet twist on movie snacks, or indulge in a night out with friends over drinks and cinema, Alamo Drafthouse Raleigh crafts a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that keeps guests coming back. It’s not just about watching a movie—it’s about experiencing a night full of great food, great drinks, and great company, all wrapped in the warm glow of nostalgia and modern comfort.
A Spooktacular Night at Alamo Drafthouse Raleigh! Last night, I had the pleasure of taking my son to the Alamo Drafthouse in Raleigh for a truly memorable Halloween experience: a showing of the classic Frankenstein. As a first-timer to a themed Alamo event, I was immediately impressed by how the theater cultivates an atmosphere that goes far beyond a typical movie screening. It was the perfect blend of spooky fun and comfort, making it a great new tradition for us. The Alamo Drafthouse doesn't just show movies—they create events. Seeing a film like Frankenstein on Halloween, surrounded by other enthusiastic film lovers, felt special. The theater itself is incredibly comfortable, and the policy of enforcing minimal distraction really enhances the focus on the big screen. The in-seat service was seamless and convenient. Being able to order food and drinks without ever leaving the cozy seats is the gold standard for movie-going luxury. Everything arrived quickly, and the staff were efficient and friendly, even on a busy holiday night. It made the entire two-hour experience effortless. If you are looking for a venue that turns a simple movie night into a truly engaging and delightful experience, especially for themed events or classics, the Alamo Drafthouse in Raleigh is the place to be. It was a wonderful bonding experience with my son and a perfect way to celebrate the holiday. We can’t wait to see what they screen next!
Just wow! A lovely theater with an impressive nostalgic vibe. The VHS cassettes, the old style movie posters even the restroom layout has a distinct feeling. Bravo on the spicy ranch popcorn and lemon pepper fingers too. One bite and I immediately knew it wasn't your typical theater food. Such a one of a kind ADH and we have two in San Antonio that don't come close. I'll def return
Love the theaters inside. Has a feel of memories of the past. There's a full bar, place to sit when you walk in. When you walk into the cinema area, there are reclining seats, a whole full menu to choose from for food. Tried the fried pickle spears, full of flavor and juicy. The fried cauliflower was just right amount of spicy! So tasty. And came with fries. Plus huge portions. Bathrooms are clean, like how there are quite a few stalls more like rooms. More privacy. My go to theater
Great customer service! Food was delicious, fresh and hot. Convenient location. Great atmosphere music & lighting. Affordable menu & bar. Parking was plentiful. Clean & safe location. Restrooms were modern & spotless. Enjoyed my time at the Alamo! I recommend the “Skinny Jeans”
I enjoyed this place and the nostalgia of movie selections from comedy to horror. My favorite are the classic zombie movies they sometimes play here. We had a great time and ordered the pepperoni pizza with popcorn and beer . They have parking and shops near by. The food was also really good. The server did his best. Our seats and light were not working at all. So we couldn't relax in the seats. If our seats were not broken I would give 5 stars. We don't think they should let us select seats in broken or not functional seating. Also, we enjoy the monthly plan they offer as well. All in all I would recommend for the nostalgia and different theater experience.
If you love movies and great service, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is the place to go. Every time I visit, the experience is smooth from start to finish. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and always on top of things — you can tell they take pride in making sure guests enjoy their time. What really sets Alamo apart is the atmosphere. The theaters are clean, comfortable, and the seats make it easy to relax and enjoy the movie without distractions. I also love their strict “no talking, no texting” rule. It keeps the movie experience exactly how it should be: focused, fun, and drama-free. The food and drinks are another big win. Everything comes out fresh, hot, and surprisingly good for a movie theater — honestly better than some restaurants. Plus, being able to order right from your seat makes it even better. From appetizers to cocktails to desserts, they’ve got a great variety. I always tell people that when I write reviews, I’m honest and straightforward — and Alamo definitely earns this one. If you’re looking for a clean, well-run, fun movie experience with great service and great food, you’ll love it here just as much as I do. Highly recommend. Ps: Saw Zootopia 2 - high recommend!!!! I love the VHS cassette 90's theme. Bathroom was really nice. The only thing I didnt care for was the tables in the theater was really sticky. I even tried to wipe it down but still sticky. They charge you 18% service fee if you order food. Food was pricy like any other theater. Fyi you cannot arrive late to this theater or else they will not let you in and there is a no text/talking policy or else they will kick you out.
